What Should Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn be Rated?

There is a lot of talk about the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, and what the rating should be. The novel, Breaking Dawn contains adult content. In my opinion the movie should stay real to the book, thus getting a R rating. If the movie changes, I feel that the older fans, such as the "Twilight moms", myself included, will be greatly disappointed.

It can be argued that the majority of the Twilight Saga fans are young teens, and with an R rating parents will not allow their children to see the film. I beg to differ. I feel parents these days are becoming less restrictive, and if they allowed their children to read the book, they most likely will allow them to view the movie as well.

The decision is still up in the air, however the talk is that it will most likely be PG-13, since the author Stephenie Meyer is advocating it. We will have to use our imaginations for the parts they'll have to leave out.

Some devoted fans have a petition to give Breaking Dawn a R-rating.

Here's an example of their logic:

"We, the undersigned fans of the The Twilight Saga, would like to petition the director of the final chapter in the Saga, Breaking Dawn, to reconsider rating the movie PG-13.It is understood that not only is Breaking Dawn rated R in the book, the director should produce a film that mirrors it's book in original form that is greatly loved by females (and some males) all over the world. Losing major details of the movie will definitely hurt the release of Breaking Dawn and disappoint fans everywhere." (http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/make-twilight-saga-breaking-dawn-rated-r)

Dates to Know!

Eclipse will be in theaters June 30th 2010, but I bet you already knew that! What else to look out for? The release of the 5th Twilight book, and Eclipse movie premiere.

The June 5th release date is set for “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” and the book will even be available for free on a dedicated Web site starting on the 7th for free. Many Twilight fans are excited to read the story of this new born vampire!

In addition, mark your calendars for June 24th and maybe even take a trip out to Hollywood. The premiere of “Eclipse” is confirmed to be taking place on that day, although the location has not been confirmed. There are rumors that it will be taking place at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

There’s currently no information on where the tickets for the event will become available. However you can check out Stub Hub and other places where tickets are sold to see if they are available. During last year’s premiere of New Moon, some people waited for hours just to get the chance to see the cast of Twilight on the Red Carpet.
