Rob Pattinson hit by cab

British actor Robert Pattinson, one of Hollywood's current young heartthrobs, was clipped by a taxi Thursday in New York while filming a new movie.

The 23-year-old star had been shooting a scene at a Manhattan bookstore when he attempted to cross the street and was grazed by a taxicab.

According to media reports, Pattinson had been attempting to escape a clutch of overzealous teen fans.

Witnesses reported that Pattinson did not appear to require medical attention, walked away from the incident and returned to work on Remember Me, a forthcoming romantic drama.

A spokesperson later downplayed the incident.

"The reports are exaggerated," Vivian Mayer, a spokeswoman for the film's production company, said in an interview. "It was not caused by his fans."

Pattinson, whose credits include a secondary role in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and portraying surrealist master Salvador Dali in the film Little Ashes, shot to international stardom in 2008 as the male lead of Twilight, the film adaptation of the hit vampire fantasy novel series by Stephenie Meyer. Since his breakout role as the heroic, love-struck vampire Edward Cullen, Pattinson has regularly been mobbed by fans.

Pattinson, who recently picked up several trophies at the MTV Movie Awards for Twilight, has completed shooting New Moon, the second film based on Meyer's series.

Coming soon to CW-Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries is a YA horror series of novels by American author L.J. Smith about a high school girl torn between two vampire brothers.

I'd say it was the fame of the Twilight series that encouraged L.J Smith and CW to come back with more Vampire Diaries and make it a TV show.

Are you going to tune in? Maybe It will hold us over until New Moon comes out.

Synopsis:
Elena Gilbert has always been a star student; beautiful, popular and involved with school and friends. As the fall semester begins, Elena becomes fascinated with mysterious new boy in school, Stefan Salvatore, and she has no way of knowing he is a centuries-old vampire. Now these two vampire brothers - one good, one evil - are at war for Elena's soul in the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia
